![]() ![]() I love books that challenge you to take the words off the page and think about the world, the nation, the town you live in and the people around you. Well, it was more like I thought, “I wonder what would happen in real life if this happened,” after Tucker and the town saw a message from the President of the United States about the quarantine. What line or scene made you think, “I wonder how much research it took to write this?” I’m afraid though if I mention certain settings, they could be spoilers so just know that I especially loved the places DJ takes the reader in the second half of the book – in particular, the end of the book.ġ0. I could picture the whole town right away and loved every moment of it. ![]() What were your initial thoughts on the premise?ĭJ MacHale is on my auto-buy list but to read the synopsis and know that the story was one I was actually excited for just doubled the anticipation. I loved all of the different dynamics Tucker had with each character and that’s a gift DJ has when sculpting and writing his characters and relationships in all of his books.Ĩ. Really, every relationship Tucker had was so much fun to read. Which relationship did you enjoy reading the most? I’ll have to wait until book two to answer this question since we still don’t know what side Tucker and his crew should be on. Kent is so broken and was crafted so well. I can relate to the core issues in Kent’s heart but not the way he goes about coping in everyday life. He’s naive at first (which on some level, I did relate to) but then he started stepping up to the plate and that’s when I really began to relate to him. I connected with Tucker once the ball started rolling. Tori is probably my favorite character because I’d like to think I’m as strong as her. How did you connect with the main character? Which character did you want more from?Ĥ. You’ll know these scenes when you read them…anything more would be spoiling it for you!ģ. The second is what takes place after Tori, Tucker, and Kent make their escape. The first scene is when Tori and Tucker drive to Tori’s house. Simply learning more about Tori as time went on did it for me but there were two scenes in particular that stick out. Is there a particular scene that brought you to this conclusion? She is strong but she’s still a kid and that vulnerability was wonderful and refreshing to see.Ģ. The most memorable for me though is Tori. What I love about DJ MacHale’s work is his ability to always make every single minor character just as memorable as the major characters. LOOK TO THE SKY because Pemberwick Island is only the beginning.ġ. Only Tucker holds the clues that can solve the deadly mystery. He tasted the Ruby and experienced the incredible power it gives to anyone brave and foolish enough to try it. He saw the bizarre midnight explosion over the ocean and witnessed mysterious singing aircraft travel like shadows through the night sky. He was on the sidelines when the star high school running back dropped dead with no warning. Tucker believes there’s more to SYLO’s story. Instantly, Pemberwick Island is cut off from the outside world. Their commander, Captain Granger, informs Pemberwick residents that their island has been hit by a lethal virus and must be quarantined. ![]() THEY CAME FROM THE SKY, parachuting out of military helicopters to invade 14 year old Tucker Pierce’s idyllic hometown on Pemberwick Island, Maine. ![]()

Npm-driven CDNs monitor the releases distributed via npm, and host the releases on their own site. Instead, programmers can add a direct reference to AG Grid from a CDN like. We can use an 'npm driven CDN' as the host for libraries, without having to use npm.Īn 'npm-driven CDN' is one which hosts the distribution code for libraries which deploy to npm.įor example, AG Grid which I demonstrated in my article " How to Convert a Static HTML Table to a Dynamic JavaScript Data Grid" deploys to npm but does not have its own CDN. We don't have to be using npm and JavaScript build processes to take advantage of the npm eco-system. npm downloads the library from a CDN and adds it to the project locally. Most libraries deploy to and rely on the programmer adding the library to their project via npm at build time. If most JQuery applications import the JQuery library from this CDN, then users are more likely to have JQuery in their cache already. This speeds up your site because the browser doesn't need to download the library again.įor example, JQuery has an official JQuery CDN. This can make your application faster than hosting files yourself.ĬDN's also have the advantage that if you are using libraries common to multiple sites then your users may already have the file cached in their browser. They are usually highly performant and offer location cached files so no matter where your users are, they receive the files from geo locations close to them. These are file hosting services for multiple versions of common libraries. What is a CDN?Ī CDN is a Content Delivery Network. In fact, if you've followed any JavaScript tutorial for a library, then you've probably already used a public CDN but may not be aware of it. This can simplify deploying the application and keeping dependencies up to date. Most popular JavaScript libraries are available from a public Content Delivery Network (CDN). It’s balanced well – and in a game all about damage input/output – adding a new element that change of gameplay is not a simple case of flipping on the melee switch. The only downside is there’s about three weapons to choose from, whereas the long-range approach is still an absolute treasure trove. I had a lot of fun changing up my playstyle to accommodate a melee build. I even started getting flashbacks of Hotline Miami – using cover and picking my time to slice them into sashimi.
